Birth is not only about making babies. It's about making mothers.
— Barbara Katz Rothman

Imagine continual support during your labor. Physical, emotional and informational support — an extra layer of comfort as you bring your baby into this world.

The word doula is a Greek word that means woman servant or caregiver. A doula is someone trained to give continual quality care and support to a woman and her partner before, during, and after childbirth.
Studies have shown that women who have continuous support, especially from a doula, are more likely to have shorter labors and spontaneous vaginal births, and less likely to have any pain medication, epidurals, C-sections, vacuum or forceps-assisted births, or negative feelings about childbirth.

What I do:

  • Assist with a positive and safe birth experience
  • Provide educational insight throughout your pregnancy, labor, and postpartum
  • Offer additional support for both mother and partner
  • Share relaxation techniques, laboring positions and comfort measures during labor
  • Ensure you eat and drink enough during labor
  • Help deciding when to leave for birth place (if necessary)
  • Help with first breastfeeding

What I don't do:

  • Take the place of your partner during birth, but instead enhance the support that your partner is already giving you
  • Perform clinical tasks
  • Make decisions for you. This is your birth!
  • Speak to the staff on your behalf. (I discuss things with you, and you or your partner express what you need to your birth team.)

My doula services cost $1,000 and include the following:

Please note: I offer a discount to couples who take or have taken my Bradley® class, as we get a better opportunity to know one another and you are well educated going into labor.
